Main Duties

• Applying safety measures throughout the perioperative period
• Monitoring physiological and psychological status of the patients
• Evaluate patient in post-operative phases
• Reporting patients’ condition to appropriate personnel during each shift
• Ensuring that all supplies necessary to perform surgical procedures are availed to the surgeon and the supporting team
• Observing infection control measures and maintaining sterility in the operating theatres
• Maintain surgical services in accordance with competency standards
• Maintaining confidentiality in matters related to patient, family and client staff
• Initiating emergency resuscitative measures according to resuscitation, basic and advanced life support protocols
• Performing appropriate treatments as ordered by physician in an accurate and timely manner
• Maintaining current competency in perioperative nursing through continuing nursing education
• Assist patients prior to surgery and alleviate their concerns
• Position and prepare patients on the operating table
• Execute proper use, care and handling of surgical equipment. instruments to ensure safety
• Assume duties within or out of sterile field as assigned
• Adhere to safety standards and precautions

• KRN/KRCHN/BscN
• Kenya Registered perioperative Certification is a must
• 2 Years’ experience in a similar role
• Latest certification in BLS and ACLS is an added advantage
• Must be registered with the Nursing Council of Kenya with a current license
