Job Description

Providing pre and post-anaesthetic assessment and care of patients in the hospital
Working with surgeons to administer anaesthetics in a manner that is safe for the procedure being done
Providing support on the management of patients admitted to the ICU in conjunction with Consultants, Registrars, ICU coordinator and other support staff.
Addressing promptly any concerns raised by patients or their kin in regard to care or treatment given in consultation with the Director of Medical Services and other professionals.
Documenting and maintaining records of all procedures undertaken.
Guiding, supervising and providing continuous education to junior medical staff and students.
Keep abreast with trends, development and utilization of technology in the field of anaesthesia and intensive care medicine on an ongoing basis.
Participating in quality improvement initiatives within the department and providing reports as required.

Required Qualifications for the Position

MMED in Anaesthesia and Critical care
Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (MB ChB)
Minimum 3 years as a Senior Medical Officer
At least 1 year in a busy theatre
Ability to train & develop staff
Registered with KMPDC with a valid practicing license
