Job Description

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing strategic leadership for all nursing and nursing-related functions at the Hospital.

Key Responsibilities

Develop, review, update and ensure compliance with policies and procedures related to the unit.
Manage day-to-day operations of the nursing unit and provide quality cost-effective care for the patient population.
Provide supervision and strategic direction to all the members of the nursing department.
Manage the departmental budget and develop cost containment strategies within the unit.
In charge of performance management within the unit.
Take lead in managing quality improvement and patient safety programs within the facility.
Facilitate learning opportunities to ensure personal and professional growth of departmental staff.
Participate in multi-disciplinary committees.
Participate in the recruitment of the nursing staff.
Take an active role in bedside nursing.
Advise management on the best nursing practices.
Play the link between the nursing unit and other departmental heads.

Skill & Experience

Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing.
Minimum 2 years’ experience in a similar position.
Demonstrated knowledge of effective management and supervisory practices.
Good knowledge of the Kenyan Healthcare system.
Excellent leadership & interpersonal skills.
