Job Description

Our client is seeking an experienced, detail-oriented and results-driven Chief Accountant to oversee financial reporting, accounting operations, tax compliance and internal financial controls. The successful candidate will ensure accurate financial records, regulatory compliance, effective cash-flow management and timely financial insights to support sound business decisions.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee daily accounting operations, general ledger management and financial reporting.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements and management reports.
• Manage budgets, cash flow, financial forecasting and expenditure controls.
• Ensure compliance with KRA tax requirements, including VAT, PAYE and other applicable statutory obligations.
• Oversee bank reconciliations, accounts payable, accounts receivable and payroll accounting.
• Coordinate audits and liaise with external auditors, banks and relevant regulatory authorities.
• Strengthen internal controls, accounting procedures and financial risk management.
• Monitor financial performance and advise management on cost control and business growth.
• Supervise accounting staff and ensure accurate, timely completion of financial tasks.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
• CPA (K) qualification or an equivalent recognised professional accounting qualification.
• At least 5 years of relevant accounting experience, including experience overseeing accounting operations.
• Strong knowledge of Kenyan tax legislation, financial reporting standards and statutory compliance.
• Proficiency in accounting software, Microsoft Excel and financial reporting tools.
• Excellent analytical, organisational, leadership and communication skills.
• High levels of integrity, confidentiality and attention to detail.
